BY THE WAY – I grew up in the Lake District and so of course, love wild swimming.
STOCK/SPECIALISMS – I focus on illustration art, Royal memorabilia and 20th century design.
MY STYLE – I would describe my style as eclectic. I look for pieces which are nostalgic or have seeped into the national consciousness typically – posters, illustration art and memorabilia (including Entertainment and Royal). I also try to discover pieces which have interesting provenance – almost a hidden history.
MOST COVETED OBJECT – Anything Cecil Beaton and in particular his costume designs produced for My Fair Lady.
LATEST DISCOVERY – An archive of works by the illustrator Reginald Mount. His works rarely come to market and although his poster designs are instantly recognisable, he is not widely known outside of poster collecting circles. I am hoping to shine a light on his achievements.
MEMORABLE PROJECT – My most memorable projects are often those which are small rather than large, the customer who buys a special piece for themselves or others which they have been looking to find for decades.
TOP TIP FOR BUYERS – Don’t be afraid to ask questions of dealers, they are friendly and have a wealth of knowledge to guide you.
FAVOURITE PLACE FOR INSPIRATION – The V&A is one of my favourite places in the entire world.
WHAT I ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE DECORATIVE FAIR – The Decorative Fair offers great style inspiration, with so many fabulous dealers each one is doing something completely different with their collection. It’s a one stop shop for everything chic and interesting.
