We have recently opened up a new showroom in a 400-year old Barn in the Essex countryside, showcasing a large collection of furniture, luggage, lighting, and decorative items. (By appointment only.)
I started the business when I was 21 with a fortuitous meeting with a dealer in South London who taught me the ropes and took me under his wing. I worked with him for 10 years gaining a solid foundation and learning the ups and downs of the trade and how to deal with integrity.
Here I developed my eye for quality and the unusual. He gave me the confidence to set up on my own and embark on this beautiful journey which continues to this day. What I love about this business is the freedom, creativity and the interesting people I meet.
Early on, I decided to learn how to restore as I wanted to buy beautiful objects that required being brought back to their original glory. Learning to restore, I met the exceptional craftsman that joined me and still forms part of our team, 28 years later.
I love the idea of repurposing beautiful and good quality objects and still remember how, in my early 20s, I managed to furnish my flat spending £5 buying a mirror, chair and table of excellent quality that I could never have afforded buying new. This made me realise how compelling re-using and upgrading vintage and antique objects could be and luckily this trend then became fashionable whilst it was initially a necessity for me.
I specialise in very high quality small objects, particularly in silver, silverplate and boxes. I also have a large collection of Louis Vuitton luggage and vintage Goyard trunks. Our furniture and lighting includes mid-century modern as well as former industrial/office/retail pieces. And I have a passion for 19th century Italian shabby chic furniture and objects.
