They met in a gallery in Bath and established their own business in 1989. Anthony has a life long interest in the work of Keith Vaughan, which culminated in his compiling of a catalogue raisonné of the artist’s mature oil paintings in 2012.
SPECIALISM – We are dealers and agents specialising in Modern British and Post-War painting and sculpture, together with tribal art. We also represent a group of contemporary painters and sculptors.
OUR STYLE – We have always been interested in drawings and works on paper – generally Anthony thinks it’s the closest you can get to the original thought of the artists. What sets us apart is that we source almost everything privately and work as agents on behalf of collectors and estates.
MOST COVETED OBJECT – A Ben Nicholson white relief.
LATEST DISCOVERY – A super little Ben Nicholson oil that hasn’t been on the market for over 70 years.
MEMORABLE PROJECT – We recently helped a client to gift a collection of drawings, by Schiele, Jawlensky, Kirchner, Pissarro and Gaudier-Brzeska, to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
FAVOURITE PLACE FOR INSPIRATION – For Anthony, it’s the British Museum, where he had one of his earliest jobs. For Rose, it’s travel, particularly to Greece with their daughter Alexandra.
THE DECORATIVE FAIR – Being a part of an eclectic fair family! It’s such a pleasure to exhibit there each year.
