The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair is one of the most important antiques fairs for interiors with over 130 exhibitors. The Fair has an international reputation amongst private buyers, antique dealers, and design professionals as an excellent source of high quality, competitively priced antiques and 20th century design. With strong roots in the design world the Fair provides inspiration of how old and new can blend together as a background for modern living. It takes place three times a year in January, April and October at the marquee, Battersea Park.

The special Foyer selling exhibition at the Autumn 2008 Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair will be MODEL LIVING: Architectural Models, Miniature Furniture, Apprentice Pieces, Patents, Ships and Toys. This display celebrates all things small and wonderful in the world of cabinetry and woodwork, and echoes the full size furniture and decorative items to be found within the fair.

The display will encompass pieces made in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries by cabinetmakers’ apprentices to show off their acquired skills; architect’s models of buildings and structures; educational models (flora, fauna, etc); diminutive children’s furniture, doll’s houses, Noah’s arks, boats, and artists’ models (moveable scale figures used in place of life models). The exhibition comes from a collection that Alasdair Brown of Combining Forces, a regular and well known exhibitor, has been accumulating over many years. Other pieces will be selected from dealers exhibiting at the Fair, and are all offered for sale. The three dimensional models will be displayed against an architectural backdrop, including prints and drawings on the walls.
