How Antique Is Our Antique Fair?

London’s Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair is 27 years old and counting… but that’s young! Apparently the Dolly Johnson Antique and Art Show in the States is in it’s 49th year. But they only claim to be the oldest in the West. In case you’re curious, it’s in Fort Worth Texas. There is another London antique fair that’s 40 years old, they say.

That makes our antiques fair youthful by comparison at 27. But then we have three antiques fairs a year in Battersea Park. So the Decorative Antiques Fair may well have more antique fairs under it’s belt (with three a year) thaan any other antique fair in London or the UK?

What would be great, would be to put some of the modern 20th Century pieces from this years fairs into the first ones and seen how they were received 27 years ago. That would be interesting to see and to think how times move on…

Our picture here is showing the detail of a 1950′s Fornasetti pedestal table from Holly Johnson at the January 2012 Decorative Antiques Fair
