Did You Come Up & See The Etchings At London’s Decorative Antiques Fair?

London’s Decorative Antiques Fair: Hard To Find Fine Art

At the Spring Decorative Fair we had a new exhibitor, Black Ink Prints from Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire – a good example of the breadth of the fair.  Black Ink concentrate on original lithographs, silk screens, woodcuts & etchings from C1860 to 1960. Two notable works were…

[1] HENRY MOORE (1898-1986) Etching, “RECLINING FIGURE 5”, 1978, commissioned to celerate Moore’s 80th birthday.  These stunning and very rare images are from an edition of only 25 sets with three editions in total of 65 sets. “RECLINING FIGURE 5”  is a pristine example, signed and numbered by the artist. [2] PIERRE AUGUSTE RENOIR (1841-1919), soft ground etching, “FEMME NUE ASSISE” 1905. A wonderful etching of one of Renoir’s favourite subjects, the seated nude.  This image, published in 1905, on fine hand made paper is typical of his middle period when his studies became looser and the artist concentrating totally on the form.  With the lifetime Renoir signature stamp.
