Darnley Fine Art at Battersea’s Famous Fair
The decorative Antique & Textile Fair is pleased to show a painting in the Antiques & Interior Design Diary that will be seen for the first time at the fair – as yet it has not been seen by anyone… It will be on the Darnley Fine Art stand.
By Herbert Alker Tripp (British 1883 – 1954) entitled East Devon Coast. Oil on canvas, signed. Image size: 12 ¼ x 18 ½ inches: Its a original oil painting for Southern Railway quad royal poster, Circa 1938.
The artist also had a long and successful career with New Scotland Yard, painting in his spare time and after his retirement. He also designed posters for the Great Western Railway and was knighted in 1945. It really captures the era and is a powerful image for interior design.
