Find Your Own Objets Trouvé At Battersea Park

Some design inspirations this season are drawn from natural objets trouvé, which have been extremely popular at the Decorative Fair for a while, such as coral, fossils, and other natural history items.  Coral seems particularly influential this autumn, with vivid shades of red, shapes and details in furniture influenced by spikes and twirls, contrasting with natural wood finishes and gentle shades of pale samphire-tinged grey or rich cream.

Buyers at the Decorative Fair have been choosing objets trouvé to use as sculpture. 

PS. Natural wood finishes (i.e. unpolished) can often be found on antique furniture that was originally painted, and has been left in its found state by dealers.  Much of our upholstered furniture is offered with hessian or other un-dyed textiles, which sits well with this decorating theme – or buyers can of course imagine how they might re-cover the piece in a fabric of their own choice.
