Specialist Pieces at The Spring Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair
Hamptons (antique boxes; new exhibitors) – “very, very, happy – it’s a great fair to do – its brilliant, its refreshing!” Met lots of new customers, especially decorators, and made good sales at prices up to £xxxx, of boxes and useful items such as tantalus and decanters.
Alex Manolatos – sales included a large and important C17th Italian ‘Lenten cloth’ brocade hanging from Lucca Cathedral, ticket price £xxxx, to a decorator with their client.
Smithson Antiques – whilst sales of small items were not many, they did sell larger items of furniture, including two butcher’s blocks, one large 1930s one with drawers (ticket price £xxxx) for use in a shop, and the other to a French chateau.
Sandy Stanley – made good sales of 20th century designer jewellery, including an 18ct gold, diamond and ruby ring by John Donald, c1970s, ticket price £xxxx.
Norfolk Decorative Antiques – sold a mixture of furniture and their trademark lighting, in particular a 1930s bronze and cut glass 8-arm chandelier priced at £xxxx.
Christopher & Angela Legge – made sales of kilims, rugs and textiles, including a good C19th silk ikat Uzbek coat on the opening day priced over £xxxx.
PICTURES & ACCESSORIES at The Spring Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair
Osborne Gallery – happy; sold several large oil paintings up to £xxxx, and several sets of engravings. Made sales to many new, mainly private, customers.
On-Reflection – their busiest first day ever! Sold a large number of mirrors; popular were original painted frames and Venetian styles. Sold their most important mirror, a large oval gilded frame, to a private customer, ticket price £xxxx, and a triptych of Venetian mirrors in the first hour for £xxxx.
