Oriental Sells, Especially In The Right Colours

 

Leuchars – excellent week, very pleased, “practically sold out”, with sales including five commodes, an architect’s desk, a bureau plat, mirrors, a pair of Chippendale period bedside tables ticket price £xxxx.

 

Anglo-Oriental – very pleased with sales, which included three desks, 10 pictures, two tables, a sofa and a pair of armchairs.  Most important sale was a Hoshiapur ivory inlaid desk from NW India, c1860, ticket price £xxxx.  Noted some 50% of sales were to new customers.

 

Seventeen-Twentyone – “practically sold out”.  Sold most of his stock including a number of interestingly-shaped upholstered sofas and chairs at prices up to £xxxx, and a pair of c1880 English globe-shaped metal light fittings, ticket £xxxx.

 

Lorfords – sales included a large early C19th Bath dresser with original paint about 8’ tall and 8’ wide with a ticket price of £xxxx and a large, unframed oil on canvas c1915 of a lady with her dog by Sir Gerald Festus Kelly (1879-1972) with a ticket price of £xxxx.  “We sold fewer but more important items.”

 

Primal – sales included a C15th/16th wooden front door with its original ironwork and studs, ticket price £xxxx; a large metal and marble-topped table priced at £xxxx; and a large painted Regency chest of drawers.

 

Maggie Charpentier – very pleased, had an excellent Fair, with sales including an unusual leather-topped c1740 fruitwood desk ticket price £xxxx, many items of important C18th and early C19th painted French furniture at good prices, and many accessories.

 

Jane Walton – happy with sales, which included a C19th iron console table to a designer, ticket price £xxxx; lots of chairs, mirrors and sofas.  “I sold every day, and probably 60% of sales were to new customers.”

 

Artefact – very pleased, sold many items of furniture and decorative accessories at prices up to £X, including several large refectory tables, and two sets (of 8 and 12) painted C19th Swedish dining chairs.

 

Catherine Despas (new exhibitor from France) – sales included a marble-topped metal table with a ticket price of £xxxx.

 

Lee Wright – sold well throughout the week, including a 1930’s Italian glass standard Lamp ticket price £xxxx, and a Dutch seaweed marquetry demi-lune cabinet c1910, ticket price £xxxx; a 1950s French parquetry commode ticket price £xxxx; a French C19th occasional table; an upholstered sofa £xxxx, and an early C18th French mirror for £xxxx.

 

Jackdawes – was happy with sales, including a pair of architectural arches ticket price £xxxx, a painted cupboard, wrought iron screens, a pair of wrought iron consoles, a pair of Italian oil lamps £xxxx, and a late C19th Italian decorative carved wood table with swan’s feet.
